FFXIV’s in-game economy is heavily player driven, with Gil markets playing an essential role. Players spend their gil on items that either boost their stats or provide convenience like glamour, minions or mounts.
Most players earn ffxiv gil by selling loot they no longer require on the Market Board and others earn it by working one of the game’s crafting and gathering professions.
What is FFXIV Gil?
Final Fantasy XIV Gil is the main in-game currency in A Realm Reborn, earned through killing enemies, completing quests and dungeons as well as purchasing equipment or weapons from NPC shops.
The game’s main quest line and job quests provide a steady source of gil, while gear can be traded in for money at Gold Saucer amusement park or sold during Moogle Treasure Trove events – two ways players can gain an increase in wealth quickly!
Crafting jobs are also an excellent source of ffxiv gil, though leveling one up may take longer than gathering jobs like Miner, Botanist and Fisher are. Miners, Botanists and Fisher can easily level up but may not always prove profitable. Ventures through Grand Company Hunt Board may yield decent amounts of both Gil and GC Seals which can then be traded on Market Board to purchase items. Finally, Patch 7.1 brings with it new Main Scenario Quests, 24-player Alliance Raids as well as a brand new dungeon – providing more opportunity to gain some precious GC seals!
How to Earn Gil
Players in Final Fantasy XIV can earn Gil by participating in storyline and random encounter battles, selling equipment or loot from battles for profit, buying rumors in the Tavern and participating in errands. Furthermore, quest completion, guildleve completion, crafting items to sell on Market Board can all help players earn ffxiv gil.
On the Market Board, nearly everything can be sold for Gil. Certain items, like housing and crafting materials as well as Allied Society gear, tend to sell better than others.
Another effective method of making money is through Beast Tribe Quests, which offer multiple Gil, Tomestones, and Ventures rewards. Once completed, these can then be sold on the Market Board to players searching for specific items; more rare products may fetch higher prices when sold through this method.
The Best Places to Earn Gil
There are many ways of earning Gil in Final Fantasy XIV, from main story and job quests, gearing up equipment in Duty Roulette and Treasure Maps to crafting. Each can provide additional means of bringing in cash – with crafting being particularly effective if done late into a patch cycle cycle.
If you want a reliable source of earnings, then trade professions such as Weaver, Carpenter, Culinarian or Botanist could be just what’s needed. Items that sell well on the Market Board include Aetherite tickets (for teleporting to your guild hall) and food. Furthermore, Retainer Ventures completed and turned into Grand Company seals can yield decent profits, which you can then use towards purchasing additional Ventures or buying materials needed by Crafters. Keeping plenty of Aetherite around can save on Teleport costs; keeping piles of Aetherite around is another great way of saving on Teleport costs!
The Worst Places to Earn Gil
There are various areas in the game where earning f14 gil is difficult and unprofitable, such as dungeons, hunting, the daily roulette, or selling items on the market board. Furthermore, certain monsters drop small amounts of Gil as loot during battle that do not justify any effort spent farming for it.
Earning Gil is most easily done through gathering jobs (miner, botanist and fisher). Unfortunately this takes time and requires high-level equipment.
Participate in errands and guildleves to make Gil. Done properly, these tasks can be very lucrative – yet another way of earning Gil can be selling items on the Market Board or completing Tribe Quests; though these methods take much more time and are sometimes stressful; hence not recommended for newcomers.
